What are you looking for?¶
- Why was the Pugsley offset? Start with the original design, then read designer Dave Gray's interview.
- What frame dimensions did Surly publish? Compare the 2016 legacy and Gen. 2 geometry tables, with links to the manufacturer references.
- What did a particular catalog list? Browse the selected Surly catalogs. The collection has seven catalogs spanning 2005–2015, with gaps between years.
- Where are the crank instructions? Find Mr. Whirly and MWOD instructions, or the SRAM DUB references. Match the document to the crank and bottom bracket on your bike.
- What did Surly's product pages look like? Explore the preserved pages listed below, including a 2010 Internet Archive capture.
Surly catalogs and crank documents¶
Browse the Surly collection for catalog specifications and Mr. Whirly and MWOD instructions. Catalogs describe what Surly listed at the time; the parts on a used bike may differ.
SRAM DUB references¶
Open the SRAM DUB collection for installation instructions, an illustrated offline manual, and the archived compatibility chart. These references cover the labeled crank and bottom-bracket variants; they are not a general Pugsley fit approval.
Dave Gray interview¶
Read the interview, published by Fat-Bike.com in May 2015, for the designer's account of the original Pugsley's development. The interview also contains commentary and humor; its scope is the design story, rather than a model-year specification list.
Preserved Surly product pages¶
Open the 2016 legacy and Gen. 2 references for Surly's product descriptions, geometry, and linked frame sheets. These are present-day captures of legacy references; their capture dates do not establish earlier model-year specifications.
Browse the early Pugsley archive for frame-page captures from 2009–2011, the 2012 Neck Romancer page, and Surly's design and hub-compatibility articles.
Open the restored April 2010 frame page to see its original background artwork and navigation graphics. The reconstruction combines assets from nearby captures; four full-size gallery images remain unavailable, with thumbnails preserved. The archive guide records the remaining gaps and provides original source files and collection downloads.
